i'm thinking about the palette for the next collection. i notice that whenever i begin this process, i start studying things around the apartment very intently. above are a few little colour vignettes that i've been looking at.
choosing colours is at once exhilarating and crushingly disappointing. you need your imagination to run wild in order to choose fresh color combinations. you spend hours and hours carefully choosing the yarns only then to be brought back to earth with a thud because the supplier tells you that almost every colour you wanted is out of stock or discontinued. being small fry, i can't order the 20kg minimum to dye up custom colours, so then the shade cards come out again... it's guaranteed to happen every time, still, it is one of my favourite aspects of the job.

i love getting these glimpses into your work process - fingers crossed the colours are in stock this time!
(particularly like the colour scheme with the crystals and nail polish!)
i hear ya. it's hard being such a perfectionist only to realize in the process that there are certain boundaries that are beyond our reach and whatever end route you choose must fit within those boundaries - i think it's a testament, though, to still be able to create something beautiful and desirable given the boundaries you have to work in.
i love the colors in the old spools of thread. the orange in the butterfly and wood bowl. elizabeth that'd be brilliant if you could start dyeing yarns at some point ..
oh so beautiful socks :)
i like!!!
love the colours of the socks and the combination of that nail polish and rusty tones!
Sometimes I wish I could trade with you and your work, coming up with colour combinations rather than words combinations. Although I'm sure both are equally exhausting tasks!
I love the juxtaposition of the Obus nailpolish, the rusting pot and the crystals. The again...all the colour schemes are beautiful!
Well said and I agree completely. I love and agonize over this part of the process - and I only put out a small number! You always have such lovely palettes. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
